New Zealand’s schools have faced an onslaught of shootings, and school shooters have been on the rise.
The number of school shootings in New Zealand has risen by nearly 20 per cent in the past year, according to data from the National Crime Agency.
It was one of the worst years for school shootings since 2008, with more than 600 deaths reported.
There were more than 1,000 school shootings reported in New York City in 2016.
The biggest spike in the number of shootings in the last year occurred in the northern state of New Zealand, which has a population of about 10 million.
New Zealand has a relatively low number of homicides per capita, but has been the site of the biggest increase in school shootings.
New York, by contrast, has one of New York’s highest murder rates.
