In contrast, the rate in New York City dropped to 456.4 in the same time frame, according the same statistics agency.

New York City police officer Timothy Loehmann, who was found not guilty in the killing of Walter Scott by a grand jury in February, has been suspended with pay.

In July, an attorney for Loeymann claimed that the city had been in violation of its contract with the federal government, the Justice Department, for a year and a half.
