A Dallas police officer is investigating a possible shooting that killed a man and wounded a man suspected of shooting his neighbor in a parking lot.
Dallas police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Turner said Friday the officer received a call from a man who was shot near the parking lot at the intersection of W. Washington and E. Franklin streets about 8 p.m.
The caller said the suspect had a gun and was walking with a woman, who was carrying her child.
“The officer was able to determine that the suspect was holding a gun in the area and that the victim was shot,” Turner said.
After searching the area, police found a man lying in the street who had been shot and taken to the hospital.
The officer then called for backup.
The man’s name has not been released.
It wasn’t immediately clear how the suspect died.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
