In the latest installment of Bloomberg Markets research, we asked, Who has the best, worst, and most frequent shooting incidents in the United States?
The list of the top five most frequent shooters in the country is as follows: 1.
San Diego, CA: 3,902 incidents, more than double the national average of 1,058 incidents, according to the FBI.
San Francisco has the most incidents with 1,068 incidents.
New York City, NY: 2,878 incidents, up from 1,000 incidents in 2016.
New Jersey has the second-highest number of incidents with 862 incidents, followed by the Bronx with 734.
Philadelphia, PA: 2.1, down from 2.3 in 2016 but up from 2,061 incidents in 2017.
The Philadelphia area also has the highest number of mass shootings with 3,079 incidents, and the city of Los Angeles has 2,979 incidents.
Boston, MA: 1,812 incidents, down slightly from 1.9 in 2016, but up more than threefold from 1 in 2016 to 2.6 in 2017, according the FBI data.
Washington, DC: 1., up from 912 incidents in 2014, but down from 914 in 2016 and up from 890 in 2017 to 1,934 incidents in 2018.
The Washington area has the third-highest shooting incidents per capita, with 1.1 incidents per 100,000 residents, followed closely by the Boston area with 1 per 100.
Washington residents are also more likely to be shot at by police than other residents.
The national average is 1.7 incidents per 1,,000, according, the FBI statistics.
